RACE GENDER & POST-MODERNISM
Denominating people into segregated minority expressions has led to significant repression and excessive hardships upon those people who have been so identified throughout history. This is the sad legacy of man acting in an arbitrary and repressive fashion, one to another. The aspect of dominance has known no geographical, cultural or ethnic boundaries. Equal treatment of the harshest kind has been distributed by a wide variety of human beings. The only substantive difference appears to be the determination of who has the position of superiority and conversely, the opportunity to monopolize the conditions of those who have been exposed as being in a weakened state, thus becoming revealed to the ability of subjugation and exploitation.
The stipulations of the postmodernist thought process concerning individual value, social reinvention, reconstructive procedures relating to the rehabilitation of historical narrative and the need for personal absorption into the greater morass of societal confluences creates an additional dilemma for the postmodernist. A type of cultural mycosis formulates these conditions that allow for the marginalization of groupings of individuals that do not have excessive influence or ability to direct the corporate masses that comprises society. The postmodern assertion that “self” is a non-entity strawman who upholds stigmatic assertions of power lends itself to the postmodern conflict that exists between the alleged assumptions and the contradictory practice of empowering those relational groups who have been marginalized in the past.
The concepts of liberation and freedom for the oppressed, regardless of race or gender, and most importantly, sin, have been the jurisdiction, at least theoretically, of the church. This factual reality of release from slavery’s oppression may be an effective bridge that can neutralize the destabilizing force of truth’s recasting. Christianity and its antecedent expression of Judaism have been far removed from racially prototyping, particularly of the Caucasian variety, until the relative recent past. This aberration has been the bane of the Americana culture and the Western European counterparts prior to the disillusionment and rejection of the principles that upheld the practice of slavery up to the 19th Century. Linguistic challenges or recalibrations can aid the apologist in the accurate representation of Christianity when this relevant topic of concern is broached as postmodernists and Christians dialogue about the issues of social accommodations.
Social reconstruction equivocates unfairly when the causal conditions of sins debilitating effects are factored into the language games of philosophy’s sphere. Justice can only be truly attained when standards of equity are stipulated as necessary considerations that in like kind create the historical conditions that call the proletariat masses to the enticingly subtle siren cry to become enactors and narrower welders of power within the world. The community of intelligentsia should understand the mitigating dynamics of marginalization.
Postmodernism’s greatest challenge to the process of understanding should be appraised within the reductional effects of knowledge’s pervasive influence. Postmodernism effectually limits or negates the very voices that espouse its virtues. This is the ironic twist that postmodern thought produces. Race, gender, education: all find potentially lethal ramifications within the unbridled realities of postmodern and its end result when followed to the logical conclusionary expressions of postmodernisms philosophical conundrum. To be a postmodernist in the puerile format forces the individual to distance self from the ability to self-criticize or receive analysis of any constructive sort.
