APOLOGETICS FOR POST-MODERNISM
Sound, Biblically contemplative thought, coupled with practical, impacting exegesis, is an ancient variable that, when properly employed, can cause the tenants of truth to be made more readily available to the masses of humanity. Need and the gratification of that which is deemed to be essentially critical for meaningful existence, can present clearly identifiable opportunities for abridgements to be formulated between the antithetical communities of the believing and non-believing personnel, when matters of faith are considered. Adjudicating the necessary dilemma that truths prepositional anchors abandonment creates, causes the forced discovery of new paradigms to be embraced methodologically for the ultimate truth of the Gospels propositions to be correctly injected into the social network of postmodern influence. In a philosophical mindset that values sensate stimuli and gratification over austere spartanism, demonstrable action may prove to be the missing link that couples postmodern’s nihilistic tendencies to Christianities authenticity.
Implication is the operative mode that constitutes necessary action. Truth is not subjected to relevance’s subjectivism. However, enactment inclinations can be subjected to viable considerational propositions through service’s opportunities, thereby producing platforms for the expression of truth that has satiated the social servant and the Gospels inclusive paradigm. Performance produces the opportunity to challenge those who have been ensnared by postmodernism’s narcissistic tendencies of inversional self-absorbency. If the church remains neutral, ambivalent, or worse, antagonistic toward those outside the confinement of Christianities boundaries, a marginalization will occur relating to the efficiency quotient, clouding the causative power of the Gospel to both stabilize society and change the individuals who dare to look into Christ’s exacting propositions to be negated.
Word games that mitigate the foundational givens of truths existence and the claims of Christianity in proxy can be adequately addressed in the market place, when the platform to be heard has been earned through compassionate expressions of interaction as opposed to avoidance behavioral patterns. The overly saturated schools of thought that make allowances for a sensate, expressive experience, can be neutralized through the manifestation of perceptive needs oriented ministry that in turn presents the objective, reducibly resistant, historically founded, biblical truisms. Discipleship, the existence of a supra metanarrative’s probable existence that is imposed as an overlay upon human history and beyond, individual or small narratives of distinctive sub-cultures, linguistic variables: all can be subjected to objective proposal’s confines.
The Paschalian tension of human depravity that is exorably linked to greatness highlights the objective/subjective balance the church needs to take, for the Gospel to be appreciable in a postmodern continuum. Subjective motion can lead to objective acquiescence, when properly enacted. But, truth’s veracity must not be discounted or marginalized for relevance’s embrace. To do so would lead to the corruption of truth’s tenants, changing truth’s form into something other than what it is, shifting the basic structural comportment of truth into its antithesis: a lie. Obviously, this is an untenable proposition for the sane to comprehend as a possibility. Postmodernisms self-defeating assumptions by virtue of their intransigent qualifications will necessarily create the need for communicative modifications to occur as time passes. However, the ability to self-criticize and evaluate positions from the vantage of inherent error and dubious conclusions is not necessarily anti-Christian in the final analysis. It is merely an opportune starting point for meaningful dialogue to be entered into.
